They're not aligned with Iran. In fact they have no real friends or allies except the US. There are Kurds in Iran. Kurdish territory is in the mountains in NE Iran, Northern Iraq, and SW Turkey. And they do have linguistic links with Iran. Kurdish is an Indo-European language related to Farsi, but very different from Arabic and Turkish. The Kurds are Sunni though, not Shia like ethnic Iranians.
