Tejek, RE: "Al Jazeera is suggesting that there should have been more blood with a beheading and think the beheading may have occurred after Berg was killed. They also raise questions about what Berg was doing over in Iraq in the first place."

I checked out Al Jazeera's article - that particular article doesn't display good journalism, because it presents only a one-sided slanted agenda. Not all perspectives.

english.aljazeera.net

Their article suggestively said, "why Nick Berg was wearing an orange jumpsuit – just like US prisoners wear." The article neglects the perspective that the terrorists put him in an orange jumpsuit as an act of humiliation.

Their article said, "Other net surfers point to the unlikely timing of the executioner's dubbed announcement that Berg was to die for "Iraqi prisoner abuse". Berg was last seen alive on 10 April, when his father Michael Berg believes he was killed - two weeks before the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal broke in the world's media."

The facts show kidnappers hold on to their prisoners for weeks. Then probably use them for whatever purposes later on. So their statement again shows only one slanted perspective. They display poor journalism, by presenting a one-sided suspicious agenda. Good journalism involves presenting all possibilities of a situation - not just one slanted perspective.

RE: "the timing of the video's release - guaranteed to divert attention from the outrage over US abuse of Iraqis."

This goes beyond the top. It's unethical to twist murder by fringe people into something that's beneficial to the USA. They sound as bad as Fox News.

RE: "The body is completely motionless even as the knife is brought to bear "

He was motionless even when he was talking. So there's a consistency in that. He was probably paralyzed with fear. Frame 2:40:27 shows his chest moving upward. Probably breathing but paralyzed with fear.

RE: "not a drop of blood is seen to fall"

I only saw the part prior, so don't know if what they say is accurate. But this statement would be the only one worth investigating.

RE: "one discussion room member suggested that Berg was killed and then beheaded later."

The videotape time stamp showed 13:26:25, then jumped to 2:18:36, then jumped to 2:40:05. There is a gap between 2:18 and 2:40 and I wonder what transpired in those 12 minutes? If he was killed before the 2:40:28 time stamp, that doesn't mean the USA did it as the article suggests, which would be an absolutely absurd assumption given the world of the Internet and today's fortunately vigilante press. Maybe Al Jazeera needs to provide the perspective their terrorist had some other guy do it, but their so-called leader tried to take credit for it.

RE: "Although the site has now been shut down, Aljazeera.net looked at the site within 90 minutes of the story breaking – and could find no such video footage. But Fox News, CNN and the BBC were all able to download the footage from the Arabic-only website and report the story within the hour."

Probably because Fox, CNN and BBC are on their toes quicker than Al Jazeera seems to be. Rather than creating an aura of suspicion, Al Jazeera should speed up their obviously slow reporting.

RE: "Why would a private Jewish American citizen choose to wander around Iraq by himself?"

(Sarcasm on) He must be guilty because he's Jewish. (Sarcasm off).

Interesting how this so-called news-outlet doesn't offer the perspective he was a caring & carefree entrepreneur totally naive to the dangers out there.

RE: "An eight-page leaflet circulated this week in Falluja said Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed"

Where's the perspective that people reportedly do bad things in the name of al-Zarqawi.

Overall, this article really shows how they are trying to drum up suspicion by not presenting all perspectives. That's not good journalism. It's an untrusty writer.

RE: "Some bloggers focused on the accent of the purported executioner. Many deny the accent is either Iraqi or Jordanian - while claims the voice is Egyptian or Iranian have been made."

The way the five people stand, had a bit of a Western element at the beginning because their legs were so far apart and I believe only Westerners do that, or Eastern leaders that have picked it up from the West. It is common for Eastern leaders to stand with their legs apart once they've seen Westerners do this. Whomever these people are, I feel they have visited a Western country for a period of 6 months. It usually takes people from the East around 6 months to adopt this stance - but most do not adopt this, usually only leaders do. Towards frame 2:40:27 their heads are bent slightly forward in a way that is distinctly Eastern - and only Eastern.

Amy J
