I think you are definitely wrong about:

It's today's liberals who want all of us to be subjected to the State and become serfs once again.

It's the republicans that want to control you. They want to control who you marry, control your family planning, control your religion and control your money.

You think they don't want to control your money? Then look at the Medicare Bill you were touting the other day. Drugs for seniors cost more in America than in Canada, even after the bill kicks in.

You know why Wal-Mart has the lowest prices? Because they buy in volume and sell in volume. They buy low and then they can sell low. The Canadian government uses the purchasing power of all the people in Canada when they buy drugs. Therefore they can buy the same drugs that you buy here in America for less money.

If you buy an automobile fully assembled...it's cheaper than if you were to buy it one part at a time.

Your Medicare bill codifies that Pharma companies can continue to sell you drugs one pill at a time. We lose the power of purchasing in large quantities, because the drug companies control the distribution, one pill at a time.

Now why would republicans pass such a bill? Because they favor the Pharma Companies over the people.

Progressives have long seen the promise of doing things on a larger scale...as it creates economies of scale.

We do this in many areas of government. A common defense. A common transportation system, a common set of laws. There's economies in communal arrangements.

So when republicans come out against national health care, and they say that it is a return to serfdom...I'd have to disagree. It's a system of serfdom when you have to beg for your medicine one pill at a time for the highest price. It's a system of serfdom when private insurance costs take every spare dollar that families earn.

Nope, it's the republicans that want to control us...and have for the past three and a half years. It's time for a change.
