<<<The bottom line is that things are going pretty well,>>>

How do you judge something like this?

What are the metrics?

We know fairly well some of our costs. The number of our soldiers dead and wounded, and the dollar amount spent on the war in Iraq up until now.

We don't know how many more of our troops will be killed and wounded and how much more its going to cost. No one wants to even guess.

Against that, what are the benefits?

The only way I can see that there are benefits is if we are able to leave Iraq with a government of their own (at this point, it does not even have to be a democracy), that could stablize the country (without it falling into hands of people that hate us).

If that does not happen, I don't see where there is any benefits from this action (invading Iraq).

Is there any guesses as to whether our minimal objectives are achievable. If it is achieveable, what are the estimates of how long it will take and how much it will cost?

What am I missing?
