Robert Dole recently came to Kerry's defense against dishonest rightwing attacks. Bush Sr. reportedly disagreed with junior's plans to invade Iraq. We know Baker and Snowcroft did.

GW told Bob Woodward he didn't even talk to his own father about Iraq (despite his father's unique expertise) because he spoke only to a "higher father". Yet what serious Christian would wage war with a country which never even attacked him? What serious Christian would set in motion these terrible chain of events?

Robert Dole and HW Bush were far-far better presidential material than GW. Just look at the difference with how the two Bushes planned (or failed to plan) for war against Saddam. Night and day difference.

The point about current rightwingers having no combat experience is that why should we trust them to plan something so important they have no first-hand knowledge about? Their inexperience with war shows now as they seem to have absolutely no idea what comes next. The whole war seems much more driven by domestic politics than any real plan or goal. I'm sure it's also driven by a massive oil-grab, potentially the largest oil-fields in the world.

The Bushes remain the most elite family in the country, maybe in the world. When Bushies attack Kerry for being "elite" they ought to look at their own candidate first. We have two elite Yalies running for president. One of them volunteered to go to war and became a hero, the other dodged the draft and didn't really work until he was in his late 40's.
