Spirit > But what the hell does any of that have to do with Kosovo?
Frankly, I have never entirely understood the US agenda in the Balkans. I know Albright had a personal thing with Milosevic because he refused to kiss her fat ass. More than that, I have read opinion that having a large base in Albania or even Kosovo would give the US a geopolitical presence in the region which is considered by some to be a gateway to the Black Sea and therefore Central Asian oil.
From a moral point of view, the US criticism of Serbian "ethnic cleansing", which was the alleged basis for its military intervention in the region, while at the same time condoning that in Israel, always smacked of hypocrisy.
But, strangest of all, was the the US alliance with Muslims, particularly known Muslim terrorists including OBL, against a country (Serbia) that was fighting for its independence against them. (Admittedly, not very nicely!). What is interesting, and relevant, about this is that it gives insights into US duplicity concerning Islamic terrorists and how, on one day, the US can be fighting side-by-side with them and, on the next, blaming them for all the evil on earth. |
