It's all part of huge a chess game that's been played by the U.S. and other Western imperial powers for over a century. It's all about controlling the world's resources, and oil is resource #1 in the late 20th and early 21st century, which is why we have troops and wars in oil producing regions. The age of oil won't last forever though. It's days are numbered. I'd give oil another ten years and it will be on it's way out. Too many technologies are in the pipeline to be ignored forever, especially with oil getting more and more expensive.
