There are reports that several teachers have either shown or allowed the video to be watched in their classrooms.

I hope this becomes a great big national issue.

Nick Berg Beheading Shown to San Diego Kids at School

Nick Berg Beheading Shown to San Diego Kids at School
In a move that outraged parents several San Diego area high school kids were able to watch the download of the Internet video of the beheading of American Nick Berg at the hands of Islamic terrorists. The story is still vague as the schools have refused to name the teachers, but in at least two schools children were allowed to see the actual download or view the pictures and listen to the audio of the abhorrent act.

The San Diego Union is reporting that “a teacher at Grossmont allegedly played an audiotape Wednesday of Berg screaming as he was being executed by Islamic militants and showed photos downloaded from the Internet of his killers holding his severed head.” While at another school (El Capitan) “a teacher allegedly permitted her students to view the video Thursday after a student downloaded it on a classroom computer.”

According to reports, none of the teachers have been named and all are on paid administrative leave.

While it’s unclear as to why the teachers would show this disturbing video to school age children without parental notification, a reason emerged from a school official in the El Capitan case. The teacher is anti-war, and wanted to use the event to spread an agenda. And worse the unnamed teacher is willing to attempt to shock teenagers into her point of view.

The NBC affiliate in San Diego reports that a school official stated that after the teacher showed the images she reportedly told the students…

“That's why we shouldn't be at war.”

That’s why this person shouldn’t be teaching. While it may be appropriate to allow those who have seen the video at home to discuss this event and allow these kids to learn independent thinking in a group setting, it’s quite another to spread a political agenda to school-age kids with a brutal murder captured on tape. All these teachers need to be disciplined, and if the reports of the El Capitan teacher are verified, she needs to be fired.
