I'm my own water company, so I tend not to worry to much about all that stuff, at least not now.

We irrigated the garden and orchard from the small pond,
and the big pond never gets used, except by critters, swimmers, and firefighting helicopters. We never had to be really careful with the water supply, altho, until we enlarged the pond and learned what it would do, we were pretty careful.

Domestic was a problem, but we were able to support 5 people, so I get careless with that, now, too. We had to store our dry season water; 15 K gallons in a tank and a doughboy. Low flush toilet, low flow shower head, infrequent showers, etc. Then, the dish water went outside on plants.
