Jaime; Ah yes, the brushes and not the artist, I only wish I had been there to buy Matisse's brushes just before him, think of the fame and glory that would have been mine! In fact the Mac versions of many of these programs are about the same as the Wintel ones. There are some still Mac only, but even those are getting ready for Wintel vers. In all cases the creative input of the artist is superior to the machine role.
Re: Cloners. Mark my word, no clones and soon no Apple. The licence fee for each machine should redress the loss of market and as the cloners make (in the fullness of time, like IBM) 10-20 machines for every one Apple makes then Apples profits will get far larger. Microsoft makes most of it's money on fees that large OEMs pay. Apple could do the same. As the platform grew so would Apple with a greater and greater portion of revenue coming from software rights, with its nice 80% profit margins, unlike hardware with its far smaller margins. Apples must also cut its overall margins to keep existing, as there is only 2-3 years more at the currnt rate money left. Thia would be symbiotic. Apple would get portions of each machine made from the OS and the CPU. IBM gets zero from most, as Intel and Microsoft carve up what IBM started. If only Apple had made legal clones from the start they could have placed the Wintel machines permanently in second place. Bill |
