Hello, well, at etrade, the more things change, the more they stay the same. check out this bunch of jacking around.
On 7-31-96 before market open my account balance showed a call for $1064.
Then at 10:43am I get this note, included in a message about another problem , that says I have a call of $3600.
Then, at 5:49pm I get this message from their margin dept, "There is a house call of $3900 due 8-2-96 by 11am Pacific time. Please send funds promptly to avoid sellout of your securities. thank you. margin dept."
All of this happened while my stocks were going up and I was selling, no buying at all.
Two emails have not produced a response from Etrade at this writing.
I have yet to understand how the call can go from $1064 to $3900 in one day, from before open to after close, when value in my portfolio was increasing and I was selling to reduce margin.
Is this typical etrade, or what?
