I am a self taught technician so I am beholding to no books.

IMO, expanding triangles (megaphones) can be bullish (when ascending) and bearish (when descending), however most quickly drift off into irrelevancy. You really have to do your homework to find one that has enduring influence and even then the lines usually have to be periodically adjusted to keep them in play, such as the case with the NASDAQ Composite megaphone off its 1974 low.
