Remember, you guys are pretty much all Jacksonians, but I'm Jeffersonian. I don't believe in getting involved in foreign wars without clear cut American interests at stake. As Sam Adams put it, we should not go around the world looking for monsters to kill. Or, as Dubya put it when he was running for President, the US should not be the policeman of the world.
I went along with the war on Iraq because I was persuaded that it was essential, and now it turns out that it wasn't, and I am not at all happy about how it was done, or why.
Not at all happy about human rights abuses.
Not at all happy that Americans are being locked up without the right to counsel.
Not at all happy that the answer to everything is "9/11 changed everything."
kholt just made an interesting argument, that Kerry is a lot like Bush, only without the attitude. Personally, as a Southerner I like Bush and Kerry sticks in my craw, but that's a style thing, and style doesn't really matter that much to me.
Not that I'd vote for Kerry, I think he's a douchebag. |
