Before you said that: "They wanted to let the inspections go forward. Chirac has said he needed another month to assess the situation." Since it is clear that Chirac was NOT going to vote for an authorization of force, what did he need to access for another month? To see if the temperature was too hot for a chem suit?

You complain that 20,000 Iraqis have died as a result of the U.S. led invasion. What you don't mention, is that Saddam would typically kill that many every couple months or so. So by invading, the United States saved over 120,000 Iraqis from being killed by Saddam.
