I agree that this scandal will have all the legs that the Dems and the media can give it. Unfortunately for them, however, the Senate is controlled by the Republicans, so the ensuing committee investigation may take some time, over six months, say?

No, I think many of the Republicans in the Senate will drive the investigations precisely as a way to keep control of the Senate. Whether they give up on Bush or not; it's too early to say. But I see no way in which they do not give up on Rumsfeld. However, the process of giving up will produce a lot of ugly stuff and may wind up being equivalent to those Rep senators giving up on Bush.
