re: I said the combining that welfare payment with other benefits can pay more then a bottom level job. And I said that is a perverse incentive. It is an incentive not to work.

When was the last time we had full employment? Not everybody can work.

re: Tax cuts reduce the governments role in social engineering, they are not social engineering for the rich.

You are really naive. They are going to spend 1/4 $Billion just on this Presidential election. How much more on all the Congressional, state and local elections. Virtually every decision government makes benefits someone and screws someone else. It could be a road, it could be a drug bill, it could be a telecom bill, it could be a tax cut for a certain tax bracket, it coulsd be a war that benefits military contractors. Somebody benefits, somebody losses on every decision.

Bush has made dramatic changes that have benefited the upper tax bracket. You can pretend it's not a zero sum game, but in the end the total resources are finite. As an Ayn Rand conservative, you should know that. And you should also judge each of Bush's actions against the primary conservative doctrine, and realize that he is a complete failure on every fiscal issue. More so than almost any President in my lifetime, Rep or Dem.

You are a conservative before being a Republican, right?
