My comment to Ray was predicated on his own statement that he was the "odd man out" in his class and that he was regarded as a "Marxist" because he was anti the Vietnam war. Clearly, he regarded himself as being different to the majority of his peers. Even today, a non-American, like myself, finds it worth a comment that a considerable number of Americans still support the Iraq war and there is no doubt that most did in its early days. Therefore, one must conclude that making war is part of the general American psyche and those who are opposed to it are in the minority and are thus not "American", certainly as "America" is today. Hence my suggestion to Ray that the "America" he loves is in his dreams. > there's a huge difference between hating America and hating those who would destroy America. I presume only an American can answer that because, to an outsider, it seems America is destroying itself -- or possibly already has.
