Interest among foreign investors in the world's largest, South Korea-based supplier of thin-film-transistor liquid crystal display panels may have an adverse effect on the two Taiwan-based panel makers, it said.

Similarly, the recent debut of China-based Semiconductor Manufacturing International in the U.S. was believed to have had a bearing on the lackluster first quarter showings of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (nyse: TSM - news - people ) and United Microelectronics (nyse: UMC - news - people ) in the local stock market, it added.
