I don't believe in getting involved in foreign wars without clear cut American interests at stake

Your clear cut American interest is this: The well being of the US depends on the well being of the modern world.

For previous 20 years it was attacked by fascists because it is the leading example of modernity in the world. In the more recent ten years it had been tied down in the middle east, to no good effect, in a military confrontation with a fascist regime and further losing its street cred and being in no position to promote political head room and modern institutions in the area which was spawning its vicious enemies.

The greatest danger to these enemies is modernity. So drop a modernity bomb on them in the place where it will have the greatest effect. That place was, and is, Iraq.

Your country has done the right thing and even mediocre success there will have an immense positive effect on Iraq and the surrounding countries.
