Another challenge to Wintel solidarity is the possible success of Window's CE devices all of which are currently powered by cheap(less than $30) RISC variants and share the core Win 32 APIs. In the very near-term they will also fill the role of set-top box allowing people to browse the web and word process inexpensively. While they are graphics limited, they seem capable of satisfying the computing needs of the majority of people. Dedicated game consoles are better for games than PCs anyway. Watch out for Windows CE! Coming to cheap devices near you. Bob
