Mr. Kenneth Leigh reports
TWO NEW NICKEL DRILL TARGETS IN LABRADOR
Commander Resources has identified two new, strong geophysical conductors on majority-owned properties located just north of the South Voisey's Bay nickel project in central Labrador. The conductors were located using the deep-sensing AMT-EM (Audio-Magneto Telluric) method, which identified the Eastern Deeps nickel deposit at Voisey's Bay at a depth of 700 metres. About 60 line kilometres of AMT surveying on 1,000-metre-spaced lines was completed on the Sally property (100 per cent owned) and the Adlatok 1 property (59 per cent owned) late last year. Final reports were recently received and data interpretation completed. In the central portion of the Sally property, a strong conductor estimated to be one kilometre in diameter was identified in the central portion of the property. A second strong conductor close to 1,500 metres in diameter and open to the east was located on the eastern fringe of the Adlatok 1 property. The open adjoining ground was covered by staking 100 claim units, named the Sadie property, which is 100 per cent owned by Commander. Recent geological mapping on the Sally and Adlatok properties by Commander has shown that these properties are underlain by an extensive gabbroic body. The mapping revealed significant "contamination" of the gabbro by a high volume of country rock fragments. This contamination significantly enhances the nickel potential on the properties as the close association of nickel sulphides to highly contaminated gabbro is well established at Voisey's Bay, located 75 kilometres to the north. The conductors on both Sally and Adlatok 1 are interpreted to be situated several hundred metres below surface. This infers that the gabbro bodies may be 300 to 400 metres thick, representing a large mass of material from which a significant nickel sulphide body could be developed. Further AMT surveys are planned on the properties, to detail between the kilometre-spaced lines and to extend the survey east of the Adlatok 1 property on to the Sadie property. The survey is planned for completion early this summer. The work to date has identified two strong nickel sulphide drill targets and the extended work on the Sadie property may add to this.
