Electronic Arts, Activision Consider Eidos Bid, Observer Says May 16 (Bloomberg) -- Electronic Arts Inc., the world's biggest games maker, and Activision Inc. are considering buying smaller rival Eidos Plc, in a bid that would value the company at 325 million pounds ($569 million), the Observer reported, without saying where the information came from.
Ubi Soft Entertainment SA, based near Paris, is a third potential buyer for Eidos, the U.K. creator of the Lara Croft computer game heroine, the newspaper said. Eidos hasn't been formally approached, it said.
Eidos' rivals are interesting in getting their hands on IO Interactive, the Denmark-based developer of the Hitman games series that Eidos bought earlier this year, the newspaper said.
Shares in Eidos, based in Wimbledon near London, Friday rose 25 pence to 178 pence, valuing the game maker at 250 million pounds. They have gained 27 percent this year.
