With vendors such as ASND (more so COMS) turning out tons of ports supporting OC3, OC12, soon OC48/192, and LAN 100Mbps, 1Gbps, it is going to create quite a requirement for caching memory devices fast enough to keep up with the data flow, while enabling some amount of "store and forward" functionallity as well. Just think, 1 seconds worth of data on a full duplex switch 1Gbps port (a single port!) can fill up a 100MByte space easy at full tilt! That's alot of SDRAM (or whatever RAM). hetesh...what's your take on investing in companies who manufacture memory products or custom ASICs for the vendors who could capitolize well with the "sonic boom" in performance data networking that is going to hit us so fast your head will spin? regards...PRB
