Hitler had his own conspiracies and was of the germanic tribe ...similar psychologies abound all thru history. Germans have had a long history of the belief in tribal superiority and often given to violent independence .
All tribal behavior and what is aka known as nationalism , which when thrust into peaks of frenzy produces much madness and irrationality.
I am not saying anyone was right , just what is ...and how men dellude themselves using religion or nationalism as a weapon in the hands of a few charismatic charactors who know the value of manipulation of the icons.

To bring up Hitler , first identify what he represents which has repeated itself time upon time again in the play of tribal/nationalistic rampages and systematic cruelty and genocides that can be witnessed thru history on down to today.
