Israel is heading for an even bigger disaster than we face in the ME. They essentially are a Jewish island in an Arab sea.........we at least have thousands of miles between us

If we head toward such a disaster we can always pack it up and go home, hurt and embarassed but intact. Israel can't. If the Palestinians really start to threaten Israel it won't go well for the Palestinians. The result of that might not work out to well for Israel either but it is far from true to say that the Palestinians have very little to lose.

I am looking at it from an economic theorem point of view......something to which you seem to relate well. The Palestinians have a much lower marginal value [MV]; hence they have less to lose. Its always much better to be in that position rather than the reverse.

Meanwhile, the continued fighting between the Israelis and Palestinians is hurting the Israelis higher MV big time. Evidence of that is Sharon's relatively recent decision to go aggressively after Hamas leaders and his threat to take out Arafat. Further evidence is the developing schism between the settlers and 'the mainland' Israelis. The MV of the 'mainland' Israelis is the one feeling the pinch the most. They are the ones who will start to complain a lot....sooner rather than later. There is grousing on the part of the Palestinians but its minor relative to the pain the Israelis are feeling. Ironically, its the Palestinians who are the ones getting creamed, 4 to 1.

It looks to me that time is on the side of the Palestinians, not the Israelis.
