Nobody's against fuel cells, but they aren't in the near term cards. Fuel efficiency could be increased with current technologies, Kerry supports this, Bush is silent and absent as a leader - maybe because he's got a lot of oil buddies with a stake in oil profligacy? Current tax law subsidizes giant SUV's! Kerry's for changing that too, Bush is absent.
There was a time in this country when we had an enforced 55 mph speed limit in the name of fuel economy. I'm not advocating that, but some Presidential leadership could make us fuel efficient again. Kerry will do this. Bush has done nothing except try to drill in one of our last wilderness areas for a paltry payoff in production to reward his oil buddies.
