Here's what you guys don't understand: The war in Iraq was started because Iraq was believed to have WMD. Those weapons have not yet been found. If they are NEVER found, indeed if they never existed (unlikely, in my opinion), the war was started under a true premise, that is, Iraq was believed to have WMD. Every big name politician out there has agreed to this premise at one time or another.

Repeatedly stating that does NOT make it a false premise no matter what the ultimate answer is. The belief may turn out to be untrue (unlikely) but the belief was a true premise, one that President Bush acted on while EVERYBODY else just flapped their jaws.

What might be useful, is for the administration to be upfront and say publicly "we started this war based on false premises".
