I'm certainly not an anti-semite, I have Jewish relatives and friends, but I have to say that your assessment of the U.S./Isreali realtionship is sadly rather accurate. Actually, anyone who is pro-Isreal and pro-Jewish should be in favor of putting pressure on Isreal to settle their ongoing dispute with the Palestinians that has hurt Isreal's image in the world so much over the years. I like the characterization of religious fanaticism as one of the two biggest money making industries in the US. That's certainly rings true too. Opium of the masses and a great way of making tons of money while you control the masses. :-)

It's a sad, but true, realization that U.S. support for Isreal has been misguided. U.S. officials always cite the fact that Isreal is one of the only democracies in the Middle East and deserves our support for just that reason alone. But, supporting democracy certainly hasn't been a central goal of the U.S. throughout the decades. How many democracies have we destroyed or retarded? Iran, Greece, Guetemala, Brazil, Chile, etc. So, our democracy claim for Isreali support rings hollow. It's really more likely part of our plan for global hemogeny, and the fact that Isreal sits in the all-important oil producing region of the world, and the fact that Isreal has such a huge lobby in the U.S. I'll tell you what, if we had withheld our funding for Isreal ten years ago, they would have settled with the Palestinians before you could say the word "money". Isreal can't survive without the Billions it gets from the U.S. If we pulled our funding, they'd be scambling to do whatever we want them to do to restore it, like sit down with the Palestinians and settle their dispute once and for all. Of course, that's political suicide in the U.S., which is why it never happens.
