NRA people are mainly egregious morons and paranoids. You don't need the NRA to "protect the 2nd amendment" because nobody in the political theater these days is challenging it. The NRA is really about quasi militias of white guys with large arsenals who are paranoid about their small penis size. Why else would anyone need a bazooka, cop-killing bullets or assault rifle? Many in the NRA are just plain creepy and probably agree with Timothy McVeigh about where this country's going.
