HI Sam,

I have the opposite opinion.

You design a machine to meet the specification Intel specifies.

You give them a deal on the machine which hopefully recovers your R&D.

Then you hope it is embraced by the rest of the industry and that is when market share growth and a return on investment is achieved.

When you build a machine that complies with the specs created by the leader - you give him the break(very confidentially), as they lead you to the leadership role.
