THe power of the Oval Office should be kept in check by the power of Congress and the Supreme Court if necessary. When we have the Oval Office acting in concert with Congress we are exposing ourselves to the potential of power abuse. If Democracy works, it must have two sides debating the issues
vigorously. Otherwise, the entire Congress follows the leader down the path without question. If the wrong path is taken then the entire country suffers.

In my opinion, we are seeing the direct effects of that unbalance right now. Any member of Congress that didn't support the President's war was considered "unpatriotic". Huge pressure was placed on all members of Congress because the vote to give the Pres increased power was taken right before an election. THe president should not have been allowed that increase in power..........in my opinion. THe President abused that power and now we find ourselves in Iraq.

Only Congress, after a vigorous debate, should be allowed to send our young men and women off to die in any war. No one man should be allowed that power. I believe that the bill to allow the Pres to "do what he sees fit to apprehend the perpetrators of 9/11", was unconstitutional.
