My view has been influenced by Peter Lynch. Being a clear nontechie, I watch how many chips I use. This yr, a new digical camera, a TIVO, a GPS, a new cellphone, a Palm Pilot, and a LAN. I love each of these new products. Soon will be a digital TV--then HDTV. The number of chips in products is dramatically increasing. I also think of how many more chip devices that a sophisticated techie will use.

I keep thinking of the old Barney's ad of the kids on a stoop in NY relating their ambitions and Barney-- the fat kid--says, "They're all gonna need clothes."

We're all gonna need chips.
