Remember when it was actually not illegal to make snaps on subways, buses and such, and people back then made what was called "street photography"? Yeah, those were the days, huh?

Yes, well, the irony is, that at the same time that they're making it illegal to make snaps on subways, buses, etc... they'll be beefing up their own surveillance systems to make a record of everyone's comings and goings. So, what will they gain from banning photos and video? People won't be able to make a visual record of what??? Things that the public should have a right to see and know about? (Ain't that a scary thought, eh?)

And how are they going to "police" the "no cameras and DVcams" regulation??? Start frisking people to look for cameras, then confiscate your card or tape and hand the camera back to you empty -- sort of like how they rip the film out of your camera and hand it back to you in....oh....say.... Moscow or Beijing? Heck.. maybe they'll just throw you in the slammer if they catch you shooting pix and keep you there for awhile. Lord help you if you don't have a valid journalist's card when you're walking around NYC with your camera or camcorder, eh?

All I can say is.. things are getting mighty bizarre down there. People, where's this going to end?
