The federal government pays about $300.00 billion in salary and benefits to over 4 million government workers. That works out to an average salary, with benefits, of around $66,000 a year per federal employee.
Compare that to the private sector's average salary of about $43,000 per year, with benefits. Nationwide, municipal government workers average about $56,000 per year, with benefits. All state workers average about the same, $56,000 a year, including benefits.
Private sector workers make about $23,000 less, annually, than federal workers, municipal and state workers are around $10,000 a year behind.
270 billion is a lot of money to pay for people who Administer programs and DONT ACTUALLY PERFORM ANY SERVICES THEMSELVES. They just act as a middleman/broker by collecting taxes and then taking a large cut of the money and funnelling the money to states or contractors who actually perform the real work and provide the service such as teaching in a classroom, performing medical treament, filling prescriptions etc. The Federal Govt is much like the United Way. The United way takes most of the charity money to pay for its own outlandish expanses and then forwards a fraction of the money for actualy charity work. |
