rruff, we've already seen Arafat's choice, he is not going to change now. He cannot, for I doubt he has the strength left. Arafat survives because he has turned himself into a walking Palestinian flag. The Palestinians buy it, and he believes it himself. In his own mind, he is Palestine, and Palestine is the "armed struggle". Arafat's dream is the dream of Saladin, to drive the Jews out of Jersusalem. He has never given a damn what he builds or what condition the people around him live in (aparat from his own cronies, that is). Never, just look at his behavior in any place he has had control of. He's not going to change now.
