Re: Let other would-be superpowers pursue and enjoy the headaches, pain, and cost of global political tinkering and intervention.

Well, don't blow US interventionism out of proportion... Actually, as I've already pointed out (*), the purview of US interventions is limited to the Judeo-Christian-Muslim squall-line. That squall line extends from Gibraltar to the Filipinos thru the Balkans, Israel, Chechnya/Georgia, Central Asia, and Indonesia... Beyond and outside that line of flashpoints, the US agenda/record is rather thin so to speak. I mean, will the US barge into Kashmir? Congo and Rwanda? In the Ivory Coast? Tibet? On the disputed border between Chile and Colombia? Or in Nepal to repel the Maoist rebellion? Except for South Korea --somehow a relic of the Cold War-- the active involvement by US troops is nowhere to be found... Just think of Communist Cuba on your very doorstep --LOL... You had over fourty years to devise a plot to get rid of "arch-villain" Castro and guess what... Castro will likely outlive the next 2 or 3 US presidents...
