The U.S. position in Iraq seems to be

"We got a big army and gosh-darn it your going to have to do what we tell you to do whether you like it or not!!"

The Iraq position is "You can't make me".

It's like arguing with a teenager. Any parent of an even moderately functional family knows that you may at times think you want to wring the teenager's neck, but if you really do you won't have any grandchildren.
