It sure sounded like you formulated a question based on the premise I proposed.
For the purpose of the question it doesn't matter if you agreed with it.
It sounds like the distiction is only about what is the moment of birth. The cutting of the cord is pretty much the only discontinuous event in the process and therefore makes a good point of definition.

*Edit - okay I see, you mentioned born as a time before the cutting of the cord. When? First breath? My daughter breathed and yelled when only her head had emerged from the womb.
