We are not in a mess in Iraq because we took Saddam out.

We are in a mess because of the way we took him out.

There are many petty dictators in the world, many of those are in the middle east. It could be argued that each individual country would be better off if their dictator was not present, but none would be better off by being invaded by the neocon clown posse.

For another analogy, If my house burns down I might be comforted a bit by the fact that I would not have to clean the gutters anymore.
