I think this is a significant difference. I understand how others can brush it off.

There is the difference between charging in and having our ducks lined up. We had a lot of wayward or missing ducks, not much in the duckery beyond the first course. That was pretty (pardon my style faux pas) obvious at the time and, as things turned out, it mattered.

Putting forth WMD which have not yet been found as the sole premise for the war is much too simplistic.

There is also a difference between the administration "putting forth WMD...as the sole premise for the war" and individual citizens buying into the war solely on that premise. No, the administration didn't do the former. But millions of people did the latter. So the WMD issue is crucial to them.
