the customs around in the world today are just meme complexes that have evolved and flourished because they are advantageous to themselves, very similar to genes. it's an unfortunate reality that the memetic tendency to value a human life can exploit a human brain less that the tendency to value the content of a bunch of books written thousands of years ago, containing such nonsense as significance of eating or avoiding certain meals like pork.

it all really kind of sucks balls but it's not going away. makes camus' saying about the only philosophical question of any significance in life being whether to commit suicide or not seem logical by comparison.
