The prison investigation is being blown out of proportion by the media,making it a political consideration where heads must roll, right up to that of Rumsfeld (If you cant get Bush, get Rummy) Saying that 90% of the prisoners were not guilty means there are over 4000 that are guilty. How many lives would be lost if those were not imprisoned? There are 10 deaths in the prisons being investigated as homicides. Yesterday 5 or more people died from one car bomb . Which represents 1/2 of the number who died in prison from ill treatment. What happens if we turn lose another 4000 individuals with the same inclinations? A great deal more Iraqis and US soldiers are going to die. How can those 4000 be identified so they do not get turned loose? What plan is proposed for doing that without some form of interrogation ? Should the members of the Press set the rules? Come on guys give us your best procedure, even if you have no experience whatsoever. How many hours of sleep deprivation, how much cold or heat, how many insults including embarrassments ? We could do it like in the movies, hours of sitting in chair under a hot light bulb while offering the prisoner a drink or a cigarette. My butt is getting sore and I have to go to the bathroom- I am ready to confess to killing 5 of your soldiers. Now get me a lawyer. The problem here is that if we set the interrogation rules, and print them in the Newspapers, the guilty party then knows exactly what is going to happen and he will never have to confess because nothing bad will happen if he doesn't.
