I think you missed my point. I am not one who believes that peace has "somehow" escaped Israel. I believe, as you do, that low-scale (or even high-scale) war has been a deliberate policy of Israel since its inception. What I am also saying is that the policy is destroying Israel just as much, or even more, than it has crushed the Palestinians.
There are no more Russian Jews, or indeed Jews in the diaspora anywhere, who are available to swell the ranks of the IDF. The days of mass immigration to Israel are gone, in fact, more people leave Israel today than come and Jewish numbers everywhere are in the decline. The days of 140K Jews in SA are long past. More like 60K today. Demography will ultimately decide, not fantasy.
