May 21, 2004--A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 48% of voters trust President Bush more than Senator Kerry when it comes to national defense and the War on Terror. Forty percent (40%) now prefer Kerry.



The 48% preference for the President is the lowest level all year. For most of the year, Bush enjoyed a double digit advantage on this issue.



Earlier this week, a related survey found that 42% give the President good or excellent marks for his handling of the situation in Iraq. That figure reflects his best rating in a month. It will be updated again on Wednesday.
