Hi James, IMAT designs, markets, and manufactures its own CT scanner called the Ultrafast CT. This scanner is used for cardiac imaging and coronary artery scanning. In 1990 Imatron established a joint venture company, InVision Technologies, Inc., with FI.M.A.I. Holding S.A., a shareholder in Imatron. InVision's purpose was to develop, manufacture, market and support advanced CT technology in the baggage, parcel and freight scanning market.
Upon organization, Imatron entered into a Technology License Agreement with FI.M.A.I. and InVision. This agreement grants InVision an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual and fully-paid license to use Imatron's technology and patents for the development, manufacture, use and sale of compact medical scanner products for military field applications, and mail , freight, parcel or baggage scanner products. Also, InVision agreed to grant back to Imatron an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual and fully-paid right and license to use InVision's technology and patents outside of InVision's field of use.
At this time, Imatron has a less than 1% interest in InVision which is carried in the Company's consolidated financial statement at no value.
Imatron's ties to InVision at this point are a common Board of Director. ****Note: This info is from a response to my inquiry re: IMAT's ties to InVision. Note also that "a common Board of DIRECTOR" is the language used. Does this mean ONE common director or was it a spelling error and it means all directors? I am not sure. Margaret |
