Concidentally, I was thinking about Brooks today at Expo, which is a ridiculously high end home furnishings store [chain, actually] operated by Home Depot, as I wandered among the $7000 Sub-Zero refrigerators and the $14000 Aga cookers, wondering to myself why Corian costs more now even though it's off patent.
Yes, it's true, Michael, suburban stores in Boboland all have Corian countertops these days. Not only that, but the cashiers know the difference between Corian and Formica. I was remarking on how worn out a Corian counter looked last week, and the cashier tapped his fingernails on the counter, and pointed out that it's not really Corian, it's just laminate. True. |
