<<Where was the Western media's moral outrage when King Hussein did to the Palestinians things that the Israelis don't even contemplate?>>

Excellent points C2 and Nadine...I read more than I have the time to keep up with posting here...I learn and appreciate the courage of people exressing their differing POV's

C2...to add to your list...where was/is the Western medias moral outrage when they kidnap and do the unthinkable acts to our soldiers(Jessica Lynch) and civilians taken hostage?

And for here in the USA...where is the Western medias' outrage when children both in urban 'inner cities' or suburban cities are killed or kill eachother...

This has bothered me for years...pre911, preIraq/Aphganistan...

Why the media does not use its influence and muscle...there have been 'bursts' as in the Columbine murder...recently, a troubled adolescent in a small upstate town attempted a similar act...in Boston, the murders of an adolescent, and that of a pregnant woman received soundbytes at first, then was relegated deep into the local section of the Boston Globe...while attention magnified to how bad we are in Iraq...

IMO,two wrongs actions do not either cancel eachother out but clearly there are scales of worse or less worse...

IMO, the Western media's moral outrage and print and attention they are receiving can be better more fairly distributed to the daily, moral outrage of what's also going on HERE...

edit: of course, imo, legit questions must be asked re: our inability to stabilize Iraq in the past year and our behaviour...

But to trump this in the media, and in our homes above our local issues is wrong...I do not hear Kerry talking about violence, drugs and how they've decimated OUR communities....I can go on...but will stop here...

edit#2...I wonder if Ted Koppel thought of doing a segment naming and showing pictures of every child homicide victim in our country last year...?? The child advocate in me is 'out' in force today...
