Protests in 2000 were both in LA and Washington DC, and diesel cost wasn't as high as it is today. They were covered in television and radio stations. Not so today, because they just blame everything to China's industrial growth and increasing demand for energy. The upset fever factor was much greater in 2000 than it is today.
