Actually Kerry cares very deeply about you and me, the world, the planet and all the issues. He's never been any type of crass self-promoter. He's always taken his challenges and responsibilities very seriously.

He's always fought hard against special interests for issues he's really believed in. The rightwing hates to admit it, but Kerry has consistently taken on some of the toughest tasks in the senate, jobs no one else wanted, and he's always come out a champion, whether he wins or loses. Ever since the beginning when he risked his career to try and end the Vietnam War, all the way up to his recent fights for fuel efficiency standards and pay-as-we-go fiscal sanity.

Does he have an ego? Sure. A very healthy one though. He has a very secure ego. An easy-going ego. He just knows he's ready and he's kind of destined. He also knowed he's earned it, as much as anyone can. He is not one to be gleeful about victory. He is a battler and he knows every battle won just bring a new one to be fought. And he will fight hard. Not for special interests of any kind, or even Democrats, but for what's best for America.

If you don't believe this, you don't know John Kerry.
