Kenny boy, their are at least a 1,000 Generals in the the military. They put their pants OR SKIRTS on same as the rest of us. Obviously there will ALWAYS be conflicting opinions in ANYTHING as complicated as a War in the Middle East. The facts are this:
Rummy was right, we DID throw out Saddam with the forces provided and did it with minimal casualties on both sides. Rummy was wrong in thinking once that job was done the Iraqi's themselves would toss out the terrorists. However, I dont see how one can blame him, every indication we had (beginning with the unsuccessful uprising in southern Iraq) would have lead a reasonable person to believe the Iraqi's would have reacted as Rummy felt. Plus, I dont think ANY AMOUNT of troops could stem terrorists unless the POPULATION helps (see Israel for that), and the more troops we have in Iraq the more it will feel like an Occupation force and not liberators. To me, Rummy's position is a reasonable one. jdn
